Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Reframe your thoughts. Reclaim your life.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Have you ever noticed how one small thought, like “I’ll never be able to do this”, can shift your whole mood, drain your energy, or stop you from taking action?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you become aware of these thought patterns, understand how they affect your feelings and behaviours, and learn how to gently challenge and change them. It’s a practical, structured approach that empowers you to take back control of your emotional world, one thought at a time.
CBT is a goal-oriented, evidence-based therapy that explores the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
It’s based on the idea that it’s not just events that cause distress, but the meaning we attach to them. Often, we develop unhelpful thinking habits (like catastrophising, mind reading, or self-criticism) that feed anxiety, low mood, or self-doubt.
CBT teaches you how to:
Recognise your thinking patterns
Understand how they influence how you feel and act
Replace them with more balanced, helpful thoughts
Develop healthier behaviours and emotional responses
How Does CBT Work?
CBT gives you tools to:
Track patterns: Become aware of situations that trigger difficult feelings or reactions
Challenge negative thoughts: Learn to ask, “Is this thought true? Is it helpful?”
Create new responses: Choose actions that are aligned with how you want to feel
Build emotional resilience: Over time, you respond to life’s challenges with more calm and confidence
Rather than digging endlessly into the past, CBT focuses on helping you move forward—with practical strategies that can be used in everyday life.
What Issues Can CBT Help With?
CBT is widely used and highly effective for a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties, including:
✔ Anxiety and panic
✔ Stress and overwhelm
✔ Low self-esteem
✔ Depression or low mood
✔ Social anxiety
✔ Overthinking and rumination
✔ Procrastination
✔ Fear of failure
✔ Sleep difficulties
What Will a CBT Session Involve?
Each session is tailored to your goals. Typically, we’ll:
Explore current challenges and identify patterns
Use CBT tools like thought records or behaviour experiments
Learn strategies to manage your emotions more effectively
Practice new ways of thinking and responding—together and between sessions
You’ll often leave with something practical to try between sessions, so the change continues outside the therapy room.
CBT + Hypnotherapy: A Powerful Combination
Because I also offer Clinical Hypnotherapy, I often integrate the two approaches. While CBT gives your mind conscious tools to work with, Hypnotherapy helps reinforce those changes at a subconscious level, making change more holistic and long-lasting.
Is CBT Right for Me?
If you feel stuck in patterns of worry, self-doubt, or emotional overwhelm—and want practical support to shift those patterns—CBT could be a great fit for you.
It’s a collaborative, empowering process. You don’t need to “fix” everything at once—just be open to exploring new ways of thinking, feeling, and being.
